My second attempt at planetary imaging, definitely getting better. Previously I had used too many alignment points when stacking, generating artifacts and limiting how much I was able to sharpen the image. This time I had no artifacts and was able to sharpen a lot more.

Acquisition:

  • Skies: Bortle 5
  • Seeing: poor
  • Video: 10 minutes continuous

Equipment:

  • Skywatcher 10 inch GoTo Dobsonian
  • ZWO ASI 224 MC
  • ZWO Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector
  • Televue Powermate 5x
  • Baader Neodymium Moon & Skyglow filter

Processing

  1. Planetary Imaging PreProcessor: image centering, cropping, frame rejection
  2. WinJUPOS: video de-rotation
  3. AutoStakkert 3: stacked best 70% of frames
  4. Registax: wavelets sharpening
  5. Photoshop: rotate, crop, levels, curves, smart sharpen
  6. Topaz Gigapixel AI: upscale 4x
